Mailchimp’s Headless Ecommerce Open Source Solution 🤯

Mailchimp, the headless ecommerce open source solution is how many brands choose to sell their products online. Why? Well, the solution’s commerce and marketing tools work together to help merchants run their business so that they can take on whatever’s next when the time is right.

The Role of Mailchimp 🐒

The role of Mailchimp is ultimately to bring audience data, marketing channels and insights to a business so that it can reach its goals at a quicker rate, all from the power of one single platform.

Mailchimp’s Process

Like every good solution there is a way in which users can reap the most benefit from the tools at hand, which is why we have covered how you can achieve everything that you’ve ever wanted for your business with Mailchimp below:

N0.1 Get Your Business Online

The first step is to get your business online by giving your brand its very own custom domain name. Then it’s time to launch a website so that you can start selling products under the name of your business.

In addition to product sales, appointments can be made and collected with Mailchimp’s handy built-in marketing tools. These are super important attributes that will enable your brand to witness an increase in sales, whilst locating and maintaining a new audience.

N0.2 Market Your Business

Send the right messages to the right people on the right channels with tailored emails, social ads, landing pages, postcards (and more) all from one place.

N0.3 Audience Reach

If you’re a familiar friend of ecommerce, you’ll know how important it is to reach the right people. How is this achieved? Well, we’d suggest starting by putting a business’ audience at the heart of its marketing strategy with tools that will enable you to understand who it is that you should be targeting.

N0.4 Curated Content

Once you know who your ideal target audience is, it’s time for your brand to shine with easy-to-use design tools and flexible templates. If you need a little help in this area, Mailchimp’s ‘AI-powered Creative Assistant’ will generate custom designs for you to choose from in a matter of seconds.

N0.5: Automated Marketing

Add a personal touch without manual effort through the use of automated messages that will reach customers of your business at the moment of your choosing.

N0.6: Act on Insights

With all data and insights collected in one place, businesses will be able to analyse and review what works best for their brand. Mailchimp will then create personalised recommendations to help each business go further.

With customers like; New Belgium, Vimeo and TED, Mailchimp offers members of the community a real chance to grow their business within the ecommerce industry.

With Mailchimp everything comes together and if you need a little help on visualising how this is achieved, here’s a quick breakdown:

N0.1: Connect Your Ecommerce Store

By connecting your store, you’ll be giving your online business a fighting chance of receiving regular sales through the use of automated emails. In our opinion, merchants should never underestimate the power of analytics. Businesses could do so much more with their marketing, if only they knew how to utilise the data in front of them.

With Mailchimp, this is easily solved as the solution allows online stores to sync their data so that pre-built customer segments can be created. Ultimately, these will be based upon customer purchase behaviour to improve the sales and conversions of a business.

N0.2: Paving The Way to Purchase

Put your customers on a personalised and tailored journey that will lead them straight to the checkout.

N0.3: Sit Back & Relax

Now that you’ve done the work, it’s time to sit back and relax as the results roll in. Merchants will be able to track their business sales from the first click to the moment of purchase alongside being able to see who paid for what and how much money their campaign has earned.

Success Story with Mailchimp Integration

With Mailchimp, it has been noticed that on average, users experience up to 6x more orders with automated emails as opposed to bulk emails alone. So, it’s important to prioritise your marketing strategy so you can make it work for you and your business. This way, merchants will be left to focus on day to day, whilst knowing that the bigger picture is already taken care of.

Mailchimp’s Success Story

One of Mailchimp’s many success stories belongs to the brand 17th Street Athletic Club as the business recorded a 37% increase in online bookings and a 250% increase in email signups. With Mailchimp integration, confidence is given to those that need to manage their marketing. So, users can know that they’ve got the task in hand.

If that wasn’t enough, Mailchimp was recently named one of the best software companies in the world in 2021 by G2 which is a real achievement for the company.

Connecting A Shopify Store to Mailchimp

We guess that our dedication to Mailchimp within today’s guide has made the choice a no-brainer, so now it’s time to place Mailchimp integration into the core of your business. Of course, before you can do that, you’ll need to know how you can connect your ecommerce store to Mailchimp and as a fine-tuned Shopify agency, we’ll be covering this from the Shopify angle.

First things first, you’ll need to install a third-party integration or make use of Mailchimp’s custom website code. Depending on the method that you choose, customers can be added to an audience, allowing you to create precisely targeted content.

However, before we can delve into the crux of Mailchimp integration, there are a few things that you’ll need to know before can start:

Shopify’s Mailchimp integration is available for those who are already using it, however, it is no longer available for new users to download.

Like Mailchimp, we here at Karmoon would advise you to install a third-party integration such as ShopSync, before you disconnect Mailchimp for Shopify integration. Then and only then after another integration has been installed should Mailchimp be disconnected from Shopify.

Should you decide to disconnect the Mailchimp app from Shopify before installing a third-party integration, campaigns that include a product recommendation block may be disrupted. So, to avoid errors, we would suggest pausing your active automation and creating new campaigns after the new integration has been installed.

When an integration has phased out, historical data will remain within Mailchimp’s records for up to 30 days. After that point, purchase data alongside some customer information will no longer be visible in Mailchimp’s servers.

Connecting Mailchimp To Shopify 🤝

It may surprise you but there are several ways in which Shopify merchants can utilise Mailchimp’s services so, let’s take a look at the options which store owners can take advantage of:

Connect ShopSync To Shopify

ShopSync is Mailchimp’s recommended integration for connecting a Shopify store to Mailchimp’s servers. When Mailchimp is connected with ShopSync, online stores will notice that their Mailchimp audience has been updated with customer information such as; email addresses, names, order information and custom fields such as birthdays and phone numbers.

Third-Party Integrations

Third-party integrations such as Zapier and Automate.io are supporters of Mailchimp’s most powerful ecommerce tools such as; syncing store data and triggered automation.

Mailchimp Website Code

Mailchimp also offers a custom code that can be embedded onto a Shopify store to activate certain features such as pop-up forms and retargeting ads.

Once Mailchimp’s website code has been added successfully to the Shopify store, merchants will be able to access certain tools from the site details page which include; product retargeting emails, pop-up signup forms and Google remarketing ads.

Note:If you’re hoping to sync products automatically, this can be achieved with Mailchimp’s open API.

We hope that today’s article has been useful for those of you who were hoping to learn more about this headless ecommerce open source solution and how Mailchimp integration can take place within a Shopify store.
