What is headless ecommerce?
You’ve probably stumbled across this page because you’ve heard about headless ecommerce with Shopify and you’re either interested in going headless, confused about what it is or wondering why you’d need it?
You’ve come to the right place.
Essentially, headless ecommerce is the process of decoupling the front-end layer of your store from the back-end but keeping both in sync via an API.
Headless is fast… Very fast!
A primary reason that headless ecommerce is gaining popularity is the ability to make your storefront loading times fast. Faster than previously possible when adopting a single platform on its own.
Couple this with the freedom to integrate almost anything you can think of, deploy new technologies without having to rebuild the whole store, additional controls over the user experience and you can see why headless is becoming increasingly attractive for online retailers.
Where's the catch?
Cost and time. Building a headless Shopify store is considerably more complex than a traditional one. As a result, headless requires longer development time and ultimately more costs involved both initially and ongoing.
However, the advantages you could achieve by going headless may potentially outweigh these costs. An initial scoping meeting would be beneficial to determine if headless is the best course of action for you.Get In touch
5 plus years experience
For over 10 years I have been working as a Front-end Developer and UI Design. However, for over five of those years I have specialised in Shopify Development. There’s very little I don’t know about Shopify.
Based in Hertfordshire, just outside of London, 90 percent of my clients are based in London, Hertfordshire and Essex. However, this hasn’t stopped me from working with clients and agencies in New York, Dublin and Dubai. As a Nomadic freelancer I’m not tied to one entity, I can go from project to project, helping clients achieve their goals.
